21/09/2024

Over the last few days, on September 18th, we took part in the Info Day organized by the governance partners of the Interreg’s Natural Heritage mission, together with our Greek partner, The Green Tank. The event was held at a school in Marathonas, Attica, Greece, invited by Varvara Bougiouri of NTUA (National Technical University of Athens), where we presented the ARTEMIS project to an audience of approximately 40 pupils, ranging from elementary to high school students.

The official title of the Info Day was “Together for the Restoration of the Natural Environment in the Mediterranean”, and it was an excellent opportunity to share our project’s goals and achievements with the younger generation, inspiring them to take an active role in environmental conservation.

Other presentations were delivered by NECCA (Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency) and the private company Terra Nova, which is running a project on marine pollution. These contributions provided a comprehensive overview of the current efforts and challenges in protecting the Mediterranean’s natural heritage. With ARTEMIS, our goal is to restore and conserve seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean region. This goal is pursued by developing and implementing innovative restoration protocols and integrating ecosystem service values into financial and policy frameworks. We aim to protect and restore coastal and marine habitats, combat biodiversity loss, and support sustainable development in the region.

With ARTEMIS, our goal is to promote the restoration and conservation of the Mediterranean’s natural ecosystems, especially seagrass meadows, by implementing innovative, science-based solutions and engaging local communities in active stewardship of their environment. The main objective of the ARTEMIS project is to restore and conserve seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean region.
