SOTA – Investment Opportunities in Seagrass Restoration
Curated by Ecoacsa and EY Denkstatt Bulgaria
This is the first report of its kind to explore how market-based instruments can finance the restoration and conservation of Mediterranean seagrass meadows — one of the region’s most valuable yet undervalued natural assets.
Developed within the Interreg Euro-MED ARTEMIS project by Ecoacsa and EY Denkstatt Bulgaria, with contributions from Plan Bleu, The Green Tank and all the partners from ARTEMIS, the report outlines the strategic case for investing in seagrass restoration through innovative financial tools such as Blue Carbon and Biodiversity Credits and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES).
By positioning Posidonia oceanica at the heart of the Mediterranean blue economy, the publication provides a blueprint for making marine restoration measurable, investable, and sustainable.
