On 27 January 2026, the ARTEMIS project was highlighted as a case during cross-border dialogue on coastal biodiversity protection through the participation of our project partner ISPRA represented by Barbara La Porta as a speaker at the BIOPRESSADRIA Project training held in Monfalcone.

The BIOPRESSADRIA Project focuses on the development of a cross-border integrated strategy to reduce biodiversity loss caused by anthropogenic pressures along the Adriatic coast. Within this framework, the training brought together stakeholders, experts, and institutional representatives with the aim of strengthening capacity building, encouraging knowledge exchange, and supporting more effective and coordinated coastal management practices across borders.
During the afternoon session dedicated to “Coastal conservation, restoration and governance”, Barbara La Porta shared valuable insights drawn from the ARTEMIS project, highlighting its objectives, methodological approach, and practical relevance. Her presentation illustrated how ARTEMIS addresses key challenges affecting coastal and marine ecosystems by promoting science-based solutions, integrated governance models, and cooperation among different actors involved in biodiversity protection.

The ARTEMIS project’s contribution emphasized the importance of aligning research, policy, and on-the-ground actions to enhance ecosystem resilience and reduce human-induced pressures on coastal environments. By fostering dialogue with complementary initiatives such as BIOPRESSADRIA, ARTEMIS strengthens synergies at the Adriatic level strengthening synergies with complementary initiatives working in the region where one of the ARTEMIS project’s four pilot sites is located, specifically in Panzano Bay.
Participation in events like the BIOPRESSADRIA training reinforces ARTEMIS’s role as an active contributor to cross-border cooperation, capacity building, and the shared goal of safeguarding biodiversity along the Adriatic coastline for present and future generations.
