ARTEMIS Celebrates Enlistment in the EU Mission to Restore Our Ocean and Waters

18/07/2025

ARTEMIS is proud to announce it has officially received a formal recognition as a relevant action under the European Union Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” a key initiative dedicated to protecting marine and freshwater ecosystems and ensuring their sustainable use.

ARTEMIS received recognition as a relevant action under the European Union's "Restore Our Ocean and Waters" mission.

The EU Mission “Restore Our Ocean and Waters” aims to protect and restore aquatic ecosystems by 2030 through research, innovation, public engagement, and sustainable investment. It uses regional “lighthouses” in key sea and river basins to test and scale solutions. A Mission Charter invites stakeholders to pledge support, with over 1,000 pledges so far. A Digital Twin Ocean will provide real-time data and predictive tools to guide decision-making. The Mission fosters broad collaboration across public, private, and community actors to support climate neutrality and ecosystem restoration.

The enlistment request was submitted last April by our project partners ECOACSA, and today we celebrate becoming an official member of this mission. This recognition strengthens our commitment to accelerating the transition towards healthier, more resilient aquatic environments through nature-based solutions, innovative monitoring technologies, and community engagement.

As part of the EU Mission, ARTEMIS joins a growing community of organizations working to deliver tangible actions that contribute to biodiversity protection, and practices related to oceans, seas, and inland waters.

Our project aims to contribute actively to the Mission’s objectives by sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, and developing solutions that support ecosystem restoration and sustainable water management. This recognition underscores ARTEMIS’s impact and the importance of continued collaboration among science, the private sector, and public authorities.

We look forward to collaborating with all partners involved in the EU Mission and reinforcing our shared vision for a cleaner, healthier environment.
